This is an original 8.5″ lithographed tin limousine manufactured by Hess in the 1920’s. The car is in very good condition, with strong lithography. There is light play wear, and some dimples in the light weight tin roof, but the car displays wonderfully. Hess cars were powered by a unique flywheel mechanism that was opersted by spinning a handle in the grill. This mechanism appears to work as intended, but does not seem to engage the rear wheels. The unit looks complete, so it may need some adjusting. There may have been a steering wheel in the drivers hands, but I’m not sure.
